Eros and Psyche Quilt

I started this one after a week-long break (I had run out of the muslin fabric I usually dye). I wanted to try printing onto fabric and chose a painting I really like "Eros and Psyche' by William-Adolphe Bouguereau and opened it into photoshop. I played around with the watercolor filter and then mosaic tiled the pieces. I printed the image out onto the fabric and then heat set it and sewed it onto a piece of green fabric. I then colored onto parts of the thread with oil pastels, to match the surrounding painting so it didn't stick out so much (white thread). I outlined the bodies in metallic gold and then beaded the clothes. Afterwards I wasn't sure of the plan so I left it alone for a few months.

Since I wasn't dying anything new, I started picking through all of my fabric to see if I got any ideas off something. I found a patterned butterfly piece and bead outlined a celtic swirl. You couldn't really see the outline very well so I then mixed metallic gold and pthalo blue with some water and painted it in with a light wash. The red fabric is a mixture of red, purple and yellow dyes.

The triangle knot uses the red/purple and blue/green fabric with a satin stitch.

When I did get more fabric in to dye, I did a mixture of blues and greens and then sewed silk flowers onto it. Afterwards I added 7 beads to the centers and glued the back knots for extra security.

The back is a mixture of purple and green with the border getting an extra dye bath of purple.

Overall I liked the outcome. The beaded center was started and then set aside for about 2 months while I decided what to add it to. I was thinking a wall hanging but I liked the quilt idea better.
