I started the central image of this quilt from a picture I had done in photoshop using my new wacom tablet. I painted it with acrylic and let it dry overnight.
|
I then quilted most of the lines and added beads to the stars, trees and fireflies.

The corner knot was made with some scraps I'd satin stitched a few weeks earlier and kept for just the right project.

I had originally intended to satin stitch some half circles and then bead triangles around it to look like a half sun. Using red/yellow/orange fabric I'd dyed but the colors didn't go together too well. I changed to full circles and sewed onto aqua colored fabric. I then free-motion stitched swirls first in blue and then yellow thread. Afterwards I criss-crossed the circles with beads. I thought it looked terrible and didn't match the rest of the piece at all until after I'd put it all together. It looks great and I'll be using that technique again at some point.
