Blue Circle Knot Quilt

I didn't really have a plan for this one. I started out with the center knot, dying in mixtures of blue, green and purple. I then satin stitched it to a black sqare.

This is close up of the center knot. The downside to dying the fabric yourself is that if you make something really cool, you won't be able to recreate it again. I loved how this knot came out.

More close up. This is the outlined knot on green. For this piece of fabric, I took the fabric and dyed it in the green several times to create a deeper layered effect.

This was another one color piece of fabric in shades of blue. Using fabric paint, I painted on this yellow knot and then outlined it in black to give it more definition. Then I used less water to the mixture and repainted the knot and then worked it in with my finger giving it a mottled texture. I like how the yellow contrasts with the blue.

You can also see the center green fabric. I used a serpentine stitch on my sewing machine with yellow and then with embroidery floss I made straight lines.

For parts of the top/bottom green center, I painted blue and yellow onto the fabric randomly then sprayed it with water to dilute the color even more. This gives it a water color feel.

I didn't have enough cotton to dye and then use for the back, so I used black and then various scraps for the border.
