With the exception of the centers of 8 flowers, this was all hand-dyed and took about a week from start to finish. It measures 47 inches by 45.5 inches. I'm pretty happy with the colors overall, before I decide to sew onto painted fabric I'll be getting a leather thimble, my finger is still blistered from all the hand sewing. When I get home I will be adding glue to all of the beads and the flowers for extra security. It was a fun project, mostly because of all of the hand sewing I had to do.

I started this one with the center-piece. I found a knot that I liked and painted it onto the fabric. First I layered alizarian crimson, metallic gold and pthlalo blue. I let it dry and using a light board I transfered the image onto the fabric. I painted it in and after it was dry I outlined it with a metallic silver pen. After that was dry, I quilted in the image using upholstery thread. Afterwards I glued rhinestones to the eyes. This took about 2 days (at night after work ~ 6 hours)

I dyed a piece of fabric several times into a royal blue bath, then outlined some celtic swirls onto the fabric. For no apparent reason I decided to add some beads to the center of each swirl (more upholstery thread, that stuff is like wire, it holds on forever).

This was actually the first piece I started with but you never know if it will go with everything else until the end. It's a red/yellow knot with a purple/green background. All satin stitched.

I next dyed some green and blue fabric. I am into the dimensional look these days and wanted some flowers. The 4 nearest the red knot use the same fabric for their centers. I then added more of the same beads. The petals were cut from different shades of blue and purple fabric. I then found some pink flower fabric and used it for the centers of the other 8. This part took the longest. Each flower is composed of 6 blue circles for the petals and one larger one for the center. All together I cut out and hand sewed 72 petals and 12 centers. I then added ~ 12 beads to each and attached them to the green pieces.

After it was all put together I hand quilted the pieces and added a back-piece of blue, purple and green. The border is the leftover fabric with and extra dye bath of yellow.
